Ignite Studio is proud to host solo exhibits by artists from Hamilton County and surrounding areas as part of our mission to promote and display art from our talented community. Our first solo exhibit of 2026 is from Donna Curry, the juried winner of this year’s “The 700 Collection” exhibit, chosen for first place by a jury panel for her sculptural piece “Crow Bar.” Curry’s piece won for it’s whimsical personality and excellent presentation, a constant across her body of work.
See “Art on a Limb” on view in the lower lobby of the Fishers branch of the Hamilton East Public Library from May 23rd – July 2nd, 2026.
About the Artist

Artist Donna Curry
I have always known I am an artist. I drew “placemats” for my parents, spent summers in the cool of the basement experimenting with a small painting kit, and begged my parents for art lessons. At age 10 I was given an assignment in school to write what my ambition is. I wrote that I was “going to be an artist and make my living painting pictures of dogs and cats, which I love very much.” While I did eventually make an attempt to get a degree in art education, I wasn’t happy in school so I ended up working for 30 years, earning a pension, and taking an early retirement at age 56. This is where my immersion in art started. I found a job teaching art to children in a wonderful organization called MyArt. It took me back to the basics of art and brought back the true joy of connecting to creativity again. Since then I’ve been on an amazing journey of discovery, passion and magic that comes through me from my time in nature, meditation, listening to music, and opening my heart to life and inspiration.
For the past 15 years I have been participating in art shows and festivals, and have recently applied to Indiana Artisans. My dream is to continue creating as long as I’m able, and to find homes for the pieces I create.
About the Exhibit

Details from “Golden Angel”
Much of my work is nature oriented and sometimes a bit out of the ordinary. All of it conveys positive images aimed towards connecting with the viewer in a beneficial way. I use the positive images in my art to help balance the current atmosphere that is affecting so many people in a negative way. Whether it’s through a pleasing subject, design or color combination, my hope is to engage people in an uplifting moment when they see my art.

Details from “Natural Beauty”
Art for me is not simply putting paint to canvas. It is the key component to my whole life: what I choose to wear; how I feel music in my body; what I bring into my home through colors, textures and light; where my mind goes during meditation and dreams; the gardens I co-create with nature; the food I make for dinner; the people I share my life with. These are all important parts of who I am and is often what influences the pieces I produce.
I strive to express my thoughts, feelings and experiences through the pieces I make but often they lead me in a different direction from what I expected. Sometimes they tell me their story so I’ve learned to become a good listener while I create. In this way it becomes a private and intimate experience between art and artist. If I can release control of the outcome, that is when the magic happens!
