We Are All Made of Molecules

Nerds unite! Stewart is one of my favorite Settlers of Catan loving, Doctor Who watching, 13 year old “gifted” nerd. He’s a good guy who is stuck living with his monstrous, almost step-sister Ashley. Fourteen year old Ashley is a typical mean girl. Not very bright, completely self-absorbed, and rude. Stewart lost his mom to cancer and misses her terribly. Ashley’s parents divorced because her father admitted he is gay and now lives in their carriage house. Ashley’s mom and Stewart’s dad fall in love and decide to move in together and that’s when Stewart’s and Ashley’s troubles start. Their story is told in alternating chapters between Stewart and Ashley. Getting two different viewpoints of the same event is always interesting to me. This is a quick read and while Stewart is a teen, he seems younger. However, the book deals with some heavy issues like divorce, death of a parent, bullying and underage drinking. I would recommend it for fans of Wonder by R.J. Palacio and See You At Harry’s by Jo Knowles.
