The Cabinet of Curiosities: 36 Tales Brief and Sinister
By: Stefan Bachmann, Katherine Catmull, Claire LeGrand and Emma Trevayne
Meet the four “curators” (who happen to be the authors!) of the mysterious Cabinet of Curiosities, a magical museum that houses dangerous souvenirs and stories kept in “drawers”. Each “drawer” has a themed story of an adventure written by one of the curators and sent to the others. Themes such as luck, tricks, fairies and even cake! Everyday items and even thoughts are open to sinister happenings. No telling or hints, you have to read them all!
Best have a light on and a flashlight as backup! Occasional black & white illustrations lend a chill to these creepy tales that are great for reading alone or aloud at school or camp. Be sure to read the commentaries by the authors and the introduction as it explains the earlier days of the Cabinet of Curiosities. Imagine a place with strange, eerie, shivery objects and the stories behind the objects.
