Our 500 Books Before Middle School Challenge is getting a makeover!
On May 30, the current challenge on Beanstack will sunset, and patrons can join the NEW 500 Books Before Middle School Challenge!
This refreshed challenge will feature a selection of new, rotating milestone prizes and completion prizes.
Upon finishing the challenge, participants will receive an achievement certificate and a book plate that they can personalize and place in a chapter book located within our Children’s Collection.
Challenge completions will also come with a special library experience! Examples could include making your own book display, a shout out on our digital screens, showing off a hobby collection in one of our display cases, and more! You can find out the current list of experiences by inquiring at the children’s reference desk.
If your child is already enrolled in the current challenge, we recommend jotting down how many books you have already read and entering that number when you join the new program. You should be able to find the number of “titles completed” under the “challenge log” in the 500 Books Before Middle School program on Beanstack. Once the new challenge begins, you can also look at the previous program by clicking on “view all” next to challenges on the main Beanstack page and then selecting “past” from the drop-down menu at the top.
We also know that reading 500 books is a big goal, so to encourage continued participation, we will hold prize drawings twice a year for children who have logged books in the previous six months. Each library branch will have their own winner.
Drawings will be held on:
■ April 1 for books logged from October 1–March 31.
■ October 1 for books logged from April 1–September 30.
