Ignite Studio Seeks Makers-in-Residence for 2024

By Kris Hurst, Arts Engagement Coordinator

Ignite Studio invites central Indiana artists to serve as a Maker-in-Residence in 2024. Ignite Studio is an arts-focused makerspace designed to offer broad access to the Hamilton County community to a variety of art and making practices. We help patrons on-ramp to their creativity by introducing new and exciting equipment and art focused experiences. The Maker-in-Residence program is an integral part of this mission to help inspire and empower people to connect to various art and making practices. Selected residents will receive a $3500 stipend and a modest budget for supplies.

Requirements of Selected Resident

Serve as the Maker-in-Residence at Ignite Studio during the summer or fall of 2024 over a three-to-four-month span.

Utilize a 1600 sq. ft. studio space as fully as possible to share your creative process with Ignite Studio patrons.

Devote 96 hours over the course of the residency to offering and preparing for patron experiences related to your art/making practice. Artists typically offer classes, open studios, and other drop-in activities. Classes are not cumulative but rather single experiences to reach as many unique patrons as possible.

Schedule will be determined by the resident in coordination with Ignite Studio staff after the selection process is complete. Marketing materials, including class or activity descriptions, open studio times, and additional bio information, will be required at least four months prior to residency.

Artist may teach paid classes from studio space provided they were scheduled prior to being selected for the residence and all dates were submitted with application. Chosen residents may not leverage Ignite Studio or the Hamilton East Public Library to sell additional class slots once selected for the residency.

*Applicant must have evening and weekend availability.*
