The Unlikely Hero of Room 13B
By: Teresa Toten
Adam, or Batman as his friends from his therapy group call him, is a 14 year old dealing with crippling OCD. He also has all the other problems teens face like divorced parents, a little stepbrother and a mother who has mental issues of her own. Life gets even more interesting when the beautiful Robyn joins therapy group and Adam falls hard for her. He feels like he has to save her but ends up wondering who is really the superhero in his life.
This novel is funny, thought-provoking, touching and completely addicting. Adam is such a likable character that you really pull for him throughout the story. I also learned quite a bit about OCD and how teens struggle every day to conquer it and live their lives.
If you like Fault in Our Stars by John Green or Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell, give Batman and Robyn a try!
