The Penderwicks in Spring
By: Jeanne Birdsall
The Penderwicks are back in an all new heartwarming story! Finding your place in a family can be hard. Batty Penderwick (previously the youngest sibling and now a wise, almost-eleven-year-old) is learning this first hand. Her older sisters are wrapped up in university, sports and other teenage pursuits. Younger siblings Ben and Lydia are busy digging up rocks and learning to escape the confines of a crib. With the help of her music teacher, Batty discovers she has an amazing singing voice. She wants to take lessons, but with a large family, money is always a worry. To earn a little extra money, she reluctantly begins a dog walking service. She soon has two clients and a whole lot of hope for the future. Life takes an unexpected turn when she accidentally overhears some very hurtful words. Can the Penderwick clan and their extended family of neighbors and friends make Batty realize how important she is? Lots of love, a few tears and one overweight dachshund make this a charming read.
If you are new to this family, begin the adventure with The Penderwicks. These stories make excellent audiobooks and family roadtrip companions!
