How To Get A Library Card

Come in to the Fishers or Noblesville library branch to get your library card. You can do so much more with a library card than just check out books. Take a few minutes to get a card and discover what awaits you at the Hamilton East Public Library! Find out what you need to bring with you to get a library card here.

IDEAs Live Here

At Hamilton East Public Library’s, our guiding principles Innovation, Discovery, Equity, and Access are at the core of what we do. As our tagline says, IDEAs Live Here. But, so do Creativity, Play, Stories, Community, and so much more. Below, we’ve highlighted some of the best resources that live at the library, all available to you for free with a library card!

If you’ve ever been to our Fishers branch, you may have wandered down to Ignite Studio, the art studio and makerspace at HEPL. This space will help you unleash your creativity! Some of the most loved resources here include maker kits for adults and kids, an A.V. studio, a 3D printer, a vinyl cutter, an embroidery machine, and so much more.

Need a little guidance to get your creative juices flowing? Register for one of our regularly scheduled crafting programs. Options include Adult Virtual Craft, Crafty Teens, Creative Happy Hour, Cool Crafting Club, Messy Munchkins, and more. There’s something for every age and interest!

For those that prefer to be creative in the comfort of their own home, HEPL offers access to Creativebug. This database has thousands of award-winning art and craft video classes taught by recognized design experts and artists.

Create some special family memories by checking out HEPL’s brand new outdoor yard games! We’ve got Ladder Toss, KanJam, Bocce Ball and more that you can take home or to the park to play with your family and friends. We also have yard games for public access stationed at the south entrance to the Fishers branch, and there’s always space to play inside in the Youth Services area of either library branch.

Our community has many fans of board games and puzzles. Our collection of board games for all ages can be checked out for two weeks at a time, and keep an eye on our events calendar for Puzzle Swap and Puzzle Showdown programs.

Have you checked out the TeenZone GameCone at Fishers Library? This space is equipped with a Nintendo Switch and PS5 along with controllers for our Teen Video Game Club or just for teens to come hang out and play together.

Stories of all kinds can be found in our collection on the library shelves and on our online databases, like Libby and Hoopla. We also want to hear your story! Visit our newly opened Crossroads Discovery Center at the Noblesville branch where storytelling and genealogy are brought together. Here you can contribute to our community oral history booth and use our interactive exhibits to explore historic records.

Participate in one of our book clubs for adults or kids to explore stories with a small group of friends. Our book clubs for adults include groups focused on mysteries, nonfiction, and more, and there are book clubs for kids to meet and discuss books both virtually and in-person. For our middle schoolers, check out Book Dragon Box, which is a box you’ll pick up from the library filled with a free book and surprises that correlate with the chosen book for an interactive reading experience.

Both libraries also offer weekly storytimes and music programs where kids can sing, play, and read together to discover all kinds of different stories! These programs do not require registration, so stop by any time. Don’t forget to check out our Sunday Stories event if you can’t get to storytime during the week!

At HEPL, we believe that a library should be dynamic contributor to the community, and our vision is to be a connected library in a connected community. You can find the library booth at all kind of events out in the community, including at farmers markets, school events, and neighborhoods.

In our buildings, we offer meeting rooms and study rooms for the public. Different clubs and groups make use of library space, including our ENL Conversation Group and Teen Advisory Board. You also may have seen our Seed Library where patrons can take 20 packets of seeds every growing season to start their own garden.

We also frequently partner with our cities and local community businesses to bring you unique events and opportunities and to give back to our community. The Noblesville branch was just added to the peony trail for the annual Peony Festival, and our Fishers branch was part of a Community StoryWalk for our Summer Reading Program (you can also find a monthly StoryWalk at Fishers parks).
