Parking Policy
The Hamilton East Public Library creates a welcoming environment inside the building and on Library grounds. Use of Library parking lots must conform to applicable laws, regulations, and the Acceptable Behavior Policy for Library Users.
Purpose: To establish the policy and procedures to address behavior or activities in Library parking lots that violate laws, regulations, or Library Acceptable Behavior Policy and to provide for the removal of vehicles from Library parking lot when vehicles present a hazard, violate regulations, appear to be abandoned, or when individuals within vehicles in Library parking lot engage in illegal activity or violate the Library Acceptable Behavior Policy.
The parking lots at Hamilton East Public Library are designated for library patrons to park their vehicles while they are using the library, and for library employees or vendors while they are working in the library. HEPL administration reserves the right to close parking lots for library programming, or in consultation with city officials and local law enforcement.
Vehicles parked in the Library parking lots shall park within the demarcated parking spaces and shall not obstruct or impede the use of the parking lots or the flow of traffic therein. Unauthorized use of the parking areas includes:
- Parking vehicles not belonging to patrons, employees, and/or vendors using the Library
- Parking vehicles overnight without approval from Library Administration
- Blocking or obstructing library entrances or the book return
- Loitering
- Skateboarding and rollerblading
- Soliciting
- Dumping or littering on library grounds
No vehicles may be left unattended in areas that are not a designated parking space. Unauthorized vehicles may be towed, at the owners’ expense. The Library is not responsible for items that are stolen from vehicles or for damage done to vehicles parked on Library property.
In addition to the removal of vehicles as authorized above, failure to comply with this Policy may result in the loss of a vehicle owner or operator’s Library privileges, including barring said owner or operator, temporarily or permanently, from use of the Library.
