Fine and Fee Amnesty Policy

Hamilton East Public Library strives to connect with and support our community on a variety of ways. To facilitate this role, Hamilton East Public Library has implemented a Fine and Fee Amnesty Policy.

Periodically, the Library Director may establish a designated fine and fee amnesty time period during which Library staff may accept from participating cardholders a food or staple item in lieu of a portion of overdue fines owed. This excludes charges for interlibrary loan services and materials; charges for lost or damaged items; or other Library-related non-overdue charges.

Collected items will be donated to governmental entities and other qualified charitable organizations serving the needs of individuals residing in the Library’s
taxing district.
