Caring for someone you love can be one of life’s most meaningful experiences, but it can also be incredibly demanding. Many families step into this role without preparation, facing moments that are both fulfilling and overwhelming. Understanding this personal journey, the Hamilton East Public Library is proud to offer MEternally Reminiscence Kits as part of our Library of Things to support caregivers and the people they cherish.
MEternally Reminiscence Kits are thoughtfully curated backpacks filled with themed items that inspire connection, spark memories, and open the door to meaningful conversations with loved ones living with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Each kit includes a DVD, photo and activity cards, a busy bottle, and a coloring set—simple tools that can create powerful moments of joy and recognition.
As of now, the library offers kits on a variety of themes, including the 1950s, the 1960s, pets, homemaking, and the seasons. We hope to add more themes to our collection regularly!
These kits are available to check out and can be placed on hold for pickup or home delivery at any library location. You may check them out for two weeks, and they are eligible for renewals, giving families the time and space to explore, reminisce, and reconnect.
