Get ready for loads of family-friendly geeky goodness and fandom activities for all ages at HEPL’s 3rd annual LibraryCon! on Saturday, November 14 from 11 AM – 3 PM at the Fishers Branch.
Cosplay is highly encouraged but not required! Dress up as your favorite character and take pictures at our photobooth! Interact with our Star Wars friends from Star Wars Indiana who will be roaming throughout the library during the day!
Get crafty in one of our themed workshops led by cosplay and comic professionals. Join cosplay duo Molly Silver and Isabella aka FruitGoblin Cosplay as they teach an interactive EVA foam workshop to level up your cosplay skills – all supplies provided! For comic fans, learn tips and tricks for making a comic from illustrator Ray Brown, then try your hand in making your own. Or, join Maker-in-Residence Gina M. Baird in an interactive enamel bead craft during the Library Flare activity.
Be a real-life superhero and donate blood at the Versiti LibraryCon! blood drive. Donors will receive HEPL-branded swag and a free book!
Music lovers, rejoice! Enjoy live performances with a mixture of anime, video game, television, and movie music from world (and out of this world) musical group il Troubadore. Forward Motion members Eric Salazar and Ashton Vickery will perform a set of music from the Legend of Zelda series for clarinet and piano. “It’s dangerous to go alone, take this!”
Want to test your trivia chops? Sign up for one of our trivia sessions! LibraryCon! Book Trivia hosted by the Teen Advisory Board at 11:30am or LibraryCon! Trivia Showdown at 12:30pm. Whether you’re a Jedi Master, a wizard in training, or a Pokémon champion, there’s something for everyone.
Drop in to our open board gaming room with Who’s Yer Gamers and Indy Tabletop Game Creators to learn a new game, playtest a design, or enjoy an old favorite. If digital is your thing, check out the GameStar Mobile video game truck!
Visit the Artist Alley in the LibraryCon! Marketplace to purchase fandom art and other goodies. Or, visit the LibraryCon! Community Corner to talk with our Library Foundation, the Circle City Ghostbusters, and other community organizations! See the full list of artists, vendors, and organizations below.
Check out the Friends of the Library bookstore in the lobby for a special LibraryCon! sale.
Wrap up the day by completing our special LibraryCon! scavenger hunt—everyone who completes the hunt will be entered into a prize drawing. The drawing will be held before our Keynote Speaker event in the East/Center room at 1:45pm. Participants must be present to win.
Last but not least, end your day with a presentation from our keynote speaker, Misako Rocks! Misako is a Japanese Manga Artist and Online Educator whose work has been published worldwide. Take a peek behind the scenes of the making of her books from the Bounce Back series and learn what it’s like to be an artist and draw manga step by step!
