Ignite Studio seeks submissions for “Compact Compositions,” our upcoming group exhibition that highlights giftable small art of all kinds. Art collectors and holiday shoppers alike will enjoy this exhibit featuring forty pieces of local, handmade art – all at a compact size and compact price. Pick up any purchases in mid-December and enjoy a giftable piece of art either for yourself or for your art-loving friends and family.
About “Compact Compositions”
“Compact Compositions” is seeking original, handmade artwork, priced either at or below $40. The name of the show, Compact Compositions, can be shortened to “C^2” or “C Squared”; and we are looking for forty pieces of artwork to fill the space, all priced at $40 (or 40^2, “Forty Squared”). To play on the boxy aspects of the show, we are seeking SQUARE shaped artwork no larger than 6″ in any direction.
The artwork can be 2D or 3D. However, all 3D work must be able to be displayed in a 6″x6″ x1″ floating frame with a flexible clear window. 2D work must be no larger than 6″x6″ but can be displayed in a frame up to 8″x8″. The purpose of this show is to give a platform for local artists to display and sell their artwork – we want to fit as much art into this show as we can, so works outside of our listed size dimensions will not be considered.
Submit work by October 21.
Artwork will be displayed at Ignite Studio, in the lower level of the Hamilton East Public Library at: 5 Municipal Drive, Fishers, IN 46038.
Entry
We display artwork by local artists of all ages and backgrounds. We encourage everyone to submit!
Eligibility
- All 2D work must be presented in a SQUARE format. This means the dimensions of height and length are the same. The work itself must be no larger than 6”x 6” with the maximum framed dimensions of 8”x8”(with another 8” for depth, if necessary).
- All 3D work must be able to fit within a 6”x 6”x1” framed area. Ignite Studio will mount the work in a floating frame (often used by collectors to display coins and insects). Jewelry, wearable art, trinkets, and other unframed items will be displayed in these frames. If they do not fit in the frames we will not display the work.
- Copies or edits of another artist’s work are not eligible for entry.
- All work must be original.
- NO AI GENERATED WORK.
- Any work previously displayed at Ignite Studio is not eligible for entry.
- Hanging work should not exceed 50 lbs.
- Ignite Studio is located in a public library visited by all ages. We cannot accept work with nudity or profanity.
- Displayed artworks may be photographed for promotional work (social media, print materials, etc.).
- All work displayed in this show must be for sale.
Presentation
- All work should be in a square format or fit in a square frame.
- All 2D work that is framed MUST be wired for hanging BEFORE drop-off. No sawtooth hangers. Please see this guide to learn how to get started wiring your work.
- 3D objects that are accepted must fit within a 6”x 6”x1” framed area. All unframed work will be displayed in frames provided by Ignite. If items do not fit in these provided frames then work will not be displayed.
Sales
All work is allowed to be listed for sale. Ignite Studio does not take commission or handle transactions. Sold artwork MUST remain on display through the duration of the exhibit.
The intent of this exhibit is to provide local artists with a platform for selling their handmade goods. We are specifically looking for small pieces of art that are priced to sell at $40 or less. Once an artist has sold a work to a patron, they must notify Ignite staff so we may mark the piece as “Sold.” All sales are to be handled between the artist and the patron.
Art pick-up is December 19-23, 2026, just in time for it to find a new home for the holidays!
Submission Guidelines
Fill out the form at THIS LINK to submit. Submit all materials via the form by OCTOBER 21. Artists may submit up to six pieces for consideration. Email any questions to Sydney at the email [email protected].
- Any media is acceptable for this show – painting, printmaking, fiber arts, collage, jewelry and metalworks, flat/small ceramics – as long as it fits the size dimensions outlined above for EITHER the square frame OR the provided flat floating frames. We CANNOT accept work that is not displayable via our gallery hanging system.
