Everything, Everything

Everything, EverythingEverything, Everything

By: Nicola Yoon

There’s been a lot of buzz about Everything, Everything. It’s even been rumored that it will be turned into a motion picture in the near future. It didn’t disappoint! If you like John Green, Rainbow Rowell or Gail Forman novels, this is the book for you.

Maddy is allergic to virtually everything so she’s lived almost her entire life inside her house with her physician mother. Unable to go out or have friends come visit because of the devastating effect that could have on her health, she’s obviously very isolated and lonely. Enter Olly. His family moves in next door and he begins a friendship with Maddy first, through emails and glances through windows then, through secret visits. Maddy has to decide how much she’s willing to risk to develop a relationship with Olly.

I really enjoyed the format of this book as well. It’s told through a variety of emails, texts, illustrations, handwritten notes and diary entries. While it deals with some heavy issues, I found it to be a quick and breezy read.
